Planning For The Perfect Summer Party
Summer is one of my favorite times of the year! I love being outdoors and being able to host, and attend, a great party. It is a lot of fun to be able to plan a summer party; I love sitting outside listening to music and really enjoying the weather and life.
Lots of people tend to throw parties during the summer months for the simple fact that everyone can be outside and not crunched inside the house. You need to plan for a party though and can't just wing it. Here are some quick tips for planning a summer party.
1. Pick a theme
Most of the summer parties are typically for the holidays: Memorial Day, 4th Of July, Labor Day, etc. If it falls within one of those categories you can use one of those themes. If it doesn’t fall within those categories then you can go ahead and pick a fun, different theme such as margaritas, beach, ice cream social, camping, or even fiesta. There are endless possibilities on a fun summer theme that you can be creative with!
2. Invite Guests
Once you figure out that you want to throw a party and you have a theme picked out start to invite people! Make sure that you get an accurate head count and know that people might back out so don’t over count for people. If people ask to bring something, let them! You are throwing the party and it can get costly so having them bring something will only benefit you!
Make sure that you have a shopping list of all the things that are going to be needed for the party so you can stick to it and not over spend. Keep the decorations simple, you can do it yourself for a lot of decorations for half the cost. Also, you can shop smart at places like Dollar Tree, Walmart, etc. Remember to get all the paper goods: plates, silverware, napkins, paper towel, cups, etc. You will not want to do the dishes after this party!
4. Menu Options
Keep it simple!! You don’t need to have a full five-course meal for everyone. Based on what your theme is you could just do hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, ribs, etc. These are all quick and easy to do and are great for the traditional summer party themes! Make sure to have a few sides maybe a pasta salad, potato salad, fruit salad, or salad. Make sure to also cover the dessert item! If your guests are anything like me they will want to have that sweet dessert after dinner.
Make sure to have plenty of options for everyone of all ages there. Some quick simple activities to do are sprinklers, corn hole, volleyball, and water slides. If you have little ones attending make sure to have some water ballons, water guns, bubbles, chalk, etc.
6. Night Activities
If you are able to shoot off fireworks, or firecrackers, have some fun with them! One of my favorite memories is fireworks and a good campfire. I love being able to make s'mores by the campfire!
You are putting on the party so you shouldn’t need to supply all the booze. Make sure to tell people to bring their own booze.
As a side note: Make sure that no one is allergic to anything that is on your menu! Are you ready to start planning your summer party?
